Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Central Middle School!

Joseph EvansWelcome to Central Middle School! My name is Joseph “Joe” Evans and it is with great enthusiasm and an honor to help lead the Central Middle School community as your new principal. As we focus on helping students, staff, and families with re-normalizing after the past two and a half years’ challenges, it is important that we embrace the challenge and focus on continuous supports for our students. I am extremely excited to be accepted as your building leader; learning and growing with you in shared decision-making, transparency, and accountability.

I come to you as a humble and collaborative leader ready to serve at full capacity for the betterment of our student body, teachers, and community. During my time with you, I look forward to not only partnering with you, but fostering strong positive relationships.

My leadership journey started as an US Army 82nd Airborne paratrooper serving in desert storm from 1990 to 1994. Yes, I jumped out of perfectly good airplanes (Lol). During this time, I developed perseverance, determination and zeal. I bring to you an array of experiences including but not limited to teaching math for over 20 years as a middle, high school, and adjunct professor. In addition, I had the opportunity to serve on the Rodel Teacher Council, serve as math chair, dean of students, testing coordinator, digital/instructional tech coach, STEM academy coordinator, acting assistant principal, and assistant principal, to name a few.

Upon choosing a career in education as my path forward, I’ve been fortunate to have had wonderful opportunities to work with and learn from incredible teachers, administrators, leading departments and district professional development programs along with high-performing administrative teams.

On a personal note, I love spending time with my family; my wife, four children, and three grandchildren. My favorite hobbies are short and long jogs, working out, playing golf, songwriting, and singing.

One of the most important aspects of my role here at Central Middle School will be building strong relationships with our students, staff and families. My core values are grounded in the belief that all students can learn no matter their background. I believe all students should not only be known by their names, but by their interests, learning styles, hobbies, social, emotional, and mental needs. With that being said, it is important that students see themselves in the curriculum to be highly engaged in the learning process. Students should have equitable access to high-quality instruction for the purpose of college and career readiness.

We have the opportunity to strengthen the CMS family through communication, collaboration, and the willingness to accept all voices as we work together for our students. Please never hesitate to contact me regarding any concerns that you may have. I look forward to having a long and rewarding relationship with you and your families.

Sincerely,
Joseph “Joe” Evans
