Get to Know Us

At Central Elementary, we strive to create a leadership-rich environment that nurtures the educational, social, and emotional development of every child. As a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, we believe in the greatness of each student. We are proud to teach and model the 7 Habits of Happy Kids, empowering students to take ownership of their learning, behavior, and personal growth.

Leadership is a key part of our culture. Students are encouraged to find their voice through meaningful leadership roles and service opportunities throughout the school. Our Positive Behavior Support (PBIS) program reinforces this culture by recognizing positive choices and rewarding students through daily incentives and Quarterly Celebrations and Assemblies that highlight student growth and success.

We are also proud of our strong family and community connections. Our active Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) helps provide enriching experiences—such as curriculum-aligned field trips—for all students. Additionally, school volunteers, foster grandparents, and dedicated mentors contribute greatly by supporting classrooms and building meaningful relationships with students.

Our students enjoy a variety of school-wide events and traditions, including Academic Nights, Super Science Day, musical programs, and our celebratory Fifth Grade Moving Up Ceremony—all designed to build community and showcase student talents.

As a dual language-Spanish immersion school, we are committed to promoting bilingualism and biliteracy. Spanish Immersion is currently offered in all grades, supporting students in developing language fluency while accessing the core content.

Our curriculum includes:

  • Reading Wonders for ELA,
  • i-Ready for math instruction and personalized pathways,
  • Amplify Science with kits for hands-on, inquiry-based learning, and
  • Writing instruction is integrated across all content areas.

Daily Related Arts classes in Art, Music, Physical Education, Library, and Technology further enrich our students’ educational experience.

For students who qualify, our Accelerated Curriculum and Technology (ACT) program provides advanced learning opportunities in grades 3–5 through our Gifted and Talented services. Special Education is provided in the least restrictive environment to meet the individual needs of students through inclusive and resource settings.

We follow the Common Core State Standards and utilize research-based instructional strategies to drive student growth. Our Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) ensures that both academic and behavioral data guide our decisions, with Reading and Math Interventions built into the school day to help every student reach their full potential.

At Central Elementary, we believe that every child is at promise and at possibility—and we are committed to helping them lead, learn, and grow every day.
