Superintendent Update Nov 26, 2021
Superintendent Update Nov 26, 2021Greetings Senator Nation!

It’s my privilege to share the weekly update for the Week of November 26th.   As we embark on the holiday season I want to seize the opportunity to on the behalf of the Capital School District’s Board of Education and leadership team to wish every member of Senator Nation a healthy and happy thanksgiving!

My week included a full agenda of activities as we launched this season of charity and love!  A  high note of my week started with meeting the school district transportation staff.  I want to thank our transportation workers for the important work they do to set the tone for learning. As a servant leader, I believe this season is one of the most important times of the year to demonstrate care, communication and community.  Monday,November 22nd was my birthday  and I was so grateful to participate in the Turkey Giveaway with Transformation AME ZIon Church. Special shout out to Rev. Dr. R.J. Chandler and his brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. for co-sponsoring, showing out in numbers and serving for this very important cause that will undoubtedly impact food insecurity in Kent County.  Kudos to the Mayor Office, City Councilman at-large Andre’ Boggerty, United Way, and the Food Bank of Delaware.  It was such a blessing to engage in service alongside Governor Carney, City of Dover Councilman at Large, Andre Boggerty and IMA President, Rev.Theodore Henderson, Senator Trey Paradee and so many more. Great things are happening across our county and district as many of our schools have participated in their own individual food drives as did the Rotary Capital City Club. A special shout out to William Henry Middle School, as a school, they were able to collect 665 items to impact hunger in our county.

On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to meet with Pastor Yarnall of Wesley United Methodist Church. We talked about her dedication to advancing the cause of Moms Demand Action.  We are exploring a partnership that can enhance our efforts to be vigilant regarding the safety of our students, families and community as a key priority for the Capital School District.

November is a good time to reflect on being thankful, a time to remember and to embrace those who enrich our lives. I’m thankful for a lot of things this year, but I’m most thankful for the opportunity to serve as the CEO and Superintendent of the Capital School District. Happy Thanksgiving and I  wish each Senator a harvest that edifies care, health, kindness and most of all love!

With Senator Pride,

Dr. Vilicia Cade
